A Surprise in the frontyard

This morning I saw something special in my frontyard. It is not a nice frontyard. All that will grow is allowed to grow. But this morning I saw some nice toadstool. One that you as a child always saw as the house of a gnoom. One about what we have a nice song, that we learned in kindergarten. I made some pictures and looked for the gnooms, but didn't see them.

Who got the Palmetto Ribbons at the Fair.

There was a lot of tatting at the Fair.
The Palmetto Tatting Guild had three special Ribbons
Best Double Stitches and Picots
Most Innovative Tatted Desing
Judges's Choice.
There were 34 different pieces. That is more than last year.

It was difficult to keep my mouth shut and Not say I can help tatting,
She has to do it herself. I admire her for her patience tat, retro tat and
at last those earrings in the group recicled what do you say aboud these

earrings? Aren't they cute? I hope you can see it well. The problem was
It has to turn It is on my PC as if had to be But When I brought it here on my blog it turned
Praying backwards didn't help so I left it as it is now.
When does it stop that fighting with my pc I want to be the boss but most of the time the PC is acting like he/she is the boss.

The Fair

The big day The Palmetto's are the whole day at the Fair in Columbia SC. We had to prepare the place they gave us for one day. We started at about 8.00 o'clock and at 9 the first visitors came in. We had a lot of things to show and the visitors know about the little tatted gift's we had. The spiders that was it, but butterflies went the most. Something special happend
All at ones there was a little girl. Her mother put her on the table and said " The lady of the sewing stand told me to show you this". It was really wonderful a dress with tatting all over the dress and a petticoat also with tatting. The lady told us she bought a big box with all kind of things, just for a few dollars In that box was another small box and in there was the little dress. She found some one who helped her with cleaning and repair some small things and here it is. Isn't this great?

That was not the only thing what happened. You know that at the fair we try to teach the visitors to tat. There was a little girl about 5 years old and she wanted to learn tatting. Her mother said you can't do that, but the girl stayed and was patient waiting for her turn.

Pam has her special way with this kind of little girls. They can't hold the thread on their hand but you can lay the thread flat on the table and then they can do the stitches flipped and unflipped. The little girl tatted herself a necklace

You see here the girl tatting, also a picture of her beautiful face. But also a close up of her tatting. I hope we will see her back as a great tatter.

It was a great day. We were tired but tired in a special way. I hope to go again next year.

I didn't have time to put something on my blog earlier.
Pam and I are very busy with working on things for the state fair and we still didn't clean the windows (some poeple will know what I am talking about)

It is a tatybird from Martha Ess and also her paprica dragon. The little baby dragon , his name is Ringtrim and the designer is Anne Bruvold The other three small animals sitting there I don't know Who designed them. The spider is designed by Donna from the Palmetto Tatters
I am doing fine overhere We have a lot off fun

This morning I got my order in my mailbox
I found in the Netherlands a shop on line where I could order the buttons, I always see in the States. It is a shop with a realy nice name Grootmoeders Knopendoos, taranslated Grandmothers button box The URL is:

I am tatting a lot of things, but the problem is: all the projects are for our magezine or for workshops so you havre to wait till after al the things are used

A new book of Ineke Kuiperij

Here it is a new book. Ineke shows her book to day in Horstmar in Germany. I am so glad that I can show the new book

In April she showed it to me for the first time.

I only saw the book not the train set But I have more pictures for you and as always you can order the book by me. I send the orders to Ineke

here is the rewult of Iris TIAS. I think I am a nice girl I finished the doly. Most of the time I don't end a project. I have a box filled with UFO's But I thought I can't do this I have to end the TIAS special for the members of my guild.

Searching like a doggy in my box with started but not ended projects, I found this project I had to tat still one point I did it, but it was a lot of trouble The wrong ball of thread was in the bag, so I had to think how to go on , because 1 thread was verry short and there were a lot of beads on that thread. The other thread was longer, so I had to take of the beads and ............................ofcourse a lot fall of on the floor , couldn't find them all back, so had to search for the beads in my bead box, but in which one

There were several boxxes amd ofcourse it was in the last box, that I found the beads.

The pattern, yes I had it in one of my guild magazines, but I found out that in that time, we did it in a different way. I find out that I learned a lot in the last years.

I think that now I would have translated the pattern in a different way. So I think I have to rewright it

OK my project is ready, but the lesson here is.

Finish your projects, don't let them lay for years!!!!!!!!!

I am tatting and tatting and most of the time can't show it because the tatting is for the guild magazine. But this picture I will show you. I think it is so cute They tell you spring is in the air.
they are dancing and I am looking out for the spring. I have had anough snow and cold and all those winter things. I know you love them when you are young and my heart is still young , but not my body.

Jon http://tatsaway.blogspot.com/ designed this heart and chalenged us to tat it and send her a picture. I tatted it with 2 different colours, followed the pattern and used the SLT to take care that 1 heart became pink and the other green
The thread is Oren Bayan # 50.
I didn't bloc the hearts because it is not what I wanted it to be.

A new Book

At least some tatting I can show.

I am verry busy with the patterns for our tatting guild, but can't show the things. It had to be a surprise for the members

But this week I got a new book from the Shuttle Brothers. A book about the SCMR.

I tried a project and played with it you see that on the left and on the right you see a pattern that used the project from the first picture.

The project described in the book is just one leg, I played and made 6.

It is a great book with lots of things that helps you to play with the techniques.

This are snowflakes from Jon Yusoff. I used thread from Oren Bayan, a kind of metallic thread

I also tatted this hedgehog with that thread The pattern is from Be-Stitched a free pattern.

I tatted it when I was in Lexington with Pam At that time I made a picture and mailed it to the designer and than the little thing dissapeared. Pam found it back underneath the bed, at that moment I was already gone.

In the plaine back home I tatted a new one and that one you see here.

Here you see the the booth labels that are on the spool with the metalic thread. I don't know where I bought it.

This is also something I want to show you. I found that tree in the dutch mall in Columbia SC.

When I saw it I wanted to have it. It just was $ 3,00 because it lost almost all its ovals. I knew what to do with it, Jerry, Pams husband helpt me making ovals of the pictures and I tatted the

edging with the technique of Jane Eborall's sequins. Just like my mobiles at the Palmetto tat days. This time ovals

And here you see my last project. I made some of these for christmas exchanges.

I used an edging that was on class in line and the snowflakes are from Jon Yusoff

I tatted it with DMC cordonette 100

The sacs are filled with lavender.

I am tatting tatting tatting for christmas, here you see a snowflake own design on the left and the one on the right is Ben Fikkerts snowflake. I have used a kind of metalic thread.

motif for calander.

Here is the first motif for the chalange in 2007.

It is an edging for Ruth for her calander. So the pattern will be on the calander

It has daisy picots and pearltatting. It is an edging, whith it. look at the picture of the corner , just lay it in that way, or make a square motif, or a snowflake, or, or fill in.

I designed just like Jon, my heart has two daisy picot flowers The heart bookmark was made first, that went verry well , the second is made with new thread and that didn't work that well, so it doesn't look as nice as the blue and white one.

Here it is the flower, after the flower was done I thought the next time I must change the way I joined the daisy picot part, will do that to morrow

I did what I planned yesterday, made a small picot at the end of the daisypicot and used that to join later.

This is after I tatted three hearts, the first hearts were not as I wanted them, this is the best one. I wonder if you can wear it as an earring. I mailed the pattern to Ruth for on the calander, I hope she can use it

It is valentjne day, here are my recently designed hearts with daisy picots

There are two patterns or I should say three

The two bigones is a pattern and I also used that pattern as a bookmark, you have to change the pattern a little bit .

The other three hearts is just the same pattern , only done in different sizes of thread

The big ones is Oren Bayan #50 the little one is DMC # 80

I think this will be a nice earring, meaby the others are to big there is picture of one of them with a quarter dollar next to it

The patterns of these hearts are send to Ruth for the calander, so wait and see

mardi grass

On severall list they were talking about mardi grass, first didn't know what it was. Later on I understood and I find out it is something like carnaval.

Well here is my yongest sun in his carnaval outfit, I took the picture just before he went to the party.

The party goes on until tuesday midnight. Most of the time they are in the streets downtown. Sunday there will be a parade
