The solution of something special from the States

I was a little bit disappointed. Don't you know how many wonderful things you can find in your country.
What I showed you grows in trees in your country in California. Not in a special tree no in all kind of trees. It is so wonderful In the picture you see the big part that Martina brought with her. What I showed you is a very small part that I made flat by making it wet. The big part is dry. Hanging in the trees it is green and soft.

We had to make a drawing. We had to draw in our own way, just look at the plant and try to draw something in the way the plant grows. We were allowed to draw round figures or figures with straight lines. That is what I did as you can see and I used triangles.
After the first drawing we had to copy the drawing. The two drawings had to be positive/negative. Not total Than the second one would be to black . Than make some copies of booth drawings and put it together as you see in the picture. This is just a start you can now go on at home and made something with it. This is just the foundation.

Something special from the States

Is there someone who can tell me what this is? It is something special from the States.
I got it from a famous lace designer Martine Bruggeman. This week I am at a workshop from a whole week . Martine is the teacher. It is a workshop where we design. I have done this for several years and it is such a good workshop. You learn a lot every time.

I wonder if there is someone who can tell me what this is.

I still am busy with ordering all my stuff (I see Jane smiling!) I went through a box with patterns looking for the dutch explaining of the cluny help. Until now didn't find it, but what did I find????
the pattern of the doily I showed you some days ago. The big doily I found at the flee market of the scouts I went to. It is a copy from I think a magazine. Some one gave me that copy. So I have to find out in which magazine it was. Will do that on my Dutch blog and on the dutch Frivolite site.
I was started to try to write down the last rounds, because some tatters liked that to use it as an edging.
Don't have to do that here it is. The problem is can I translate it in English. There of course would be a copyright.
So wait and see and write in private if you want to know more.

A day with lots of rain

This is what I saw after a big cloudburst a very nice rainbow. We have had all kinds of weather to day rain sunshine, lots of wind . It was a day to stay at home, so I had time to take pictures of the doilies I found on a flee market. Most of the time You find lots of doilies , but no tatting. This time I found three a big one and 2 small one. The man who had the things told me they were from an aunt and she has made them there were a lot of other doilies bobbin lace ribbon lace crotchet and another technique I don't know.
All the doilies were in a bag and he asked me 1 euro.

This flee market was on Monday the 13th June That is a Sunday here. A scouting group organized the flee market and I had to go there I saw a lot of friends and we talked a lot about the fun we had when we were young.

Meimarkt down town Tilburg 22 - 05 - 2011

Once a year we have as you in the States call it a garage sale, but it is downtown and there are about 630 people with a market stall and 200 place on the ground. The event starts on Saturday evening 9 o'clock and it goes on the whole night and ends on Sunday at 5 o'clock in the afternoon. On Sunday the children till 12 year are allowed to ask for a place on a square, THE SQUARE downtown. Other years I wasn't there but this year living downtown now I couldn't resist to visit the market. I didn't take much money with me. All that you see in the picture (Pam Freck you should close your eyes and not look at the picture) I bought that for just

€ 10, 20 That is about $14,00 . What do you see, well a lot of jewelery I bought them for the beads not to ware them. than some small statues, don't look Pam, a donkey for Nora a metal cat to make cakes. A book to make special clothes for dolls, a picture of angels I told you I thought about a poem that is talking of 14 angels that goes with you when you go to sleep. I had a picture but it brook and there is a lady bird made of a balloon I bought some small balloons and hope I can make them myself There is also a small doily It is a nice piece of lace It is knitted and crotchet . I put it on the scanner and here is a picture of that piece of lace

If you want to see it better to look for what is done click on it and it becomes bigger I don't know who made it and if there is a pattern Just found it and payed 10 euro cents. Of course I looked for tatting, but didn't find anything. I think I have to go earlier in the morning or maybe in the night. I know that people who are looking for special things do that.But I have had a lot of fun and I think I found a lot of treasures. Next year I will go again. Now I have to gave my feet a big rest. I was walking for about 4 till 5 hours.

Here it is. Again a new book from Ineke Kuiperij. A second Kerstallerhande.
11 different objects for the Christmas tree.
This morning she visited me in my new Home.
It was difficult for her to find me, but at least she found me .
We talked a lot and than all at once there was her new book,
as a present for me and she already brought me a nice plant.

At least there is time to say thank you. There were a lot of birthday cards. Have had a card from Pam that was early and nice.
Got a card with a nice surprise inside from Georgia and also from Beverly Jane Davis.

I have seen the whole day German TV, so it is a little bit difficult to write English. Was looking at carnival in Koln.
But I think I must tell you all now, that the problem with the pattern and the ROT is solved
The chairman of the team called me and she announced that there will come rules for the designers how the pattern should be presented and rules for the test tatters. The rules will come in the next newsletter and they will also come on the chat list of the ROT.
So I am really glad that I asked and asked.
Just one thing for all the tatters When something is wrong, contact the chairman of the ROT, when she doesn't hear she can't do anything because she doesn't know the problem.
And always (that is what I think) start with e-mailing private It is something for you and the chairman.
So I am glad everything is solved now

I am ready for carnival

I was very busy yesterday and to day. I went shopping yesterday to look out for a hat that goes with the scarf for carnival
The lady in the shop was a great help she said you can knit a hat. Well we found a pattern, but the threads in the colors of the carnival were not thick enough. So we decided that I should take two threads in stead of one So I put a green and orange thread together. Than there was another problem I have to knit it on 4 needles, but there are no needles without a stop on the end in the size I needed So I knitted it on two needles and sew the sides together.
Gave a little bit stress I have to have a good look at the pattern to take care to knit the right stitches in the right place But as you see the hat is ready.
Now it is time to go back to tatting

no tatting but crotchet for carnival

I had to crotchet In almost a week it is carnival over here and they asked me to help. When I was young a very long time ago, I had special cloth. So I thought well I can crotchet a scarf and here it is. It is in the colors from our city.
When it is carnival the city has another name The name of Tilburg is Kruikenstad

there is a story behind the name.
In the former days Tilburg was a city with almost just 1 industry and that was textile, special wool.
There were a lot of factories all over the city , there were also a lot of churches (catholic churches ) with towers all over the city
When I was a youngster almost all the men were working in the textile fabrics.
In the begin of the factories they needed to prepare the wool, human urine The workers went to the factory in the morning with their jars filled with urine.
the dutch word for jars is kruiken so you see there it is Kruikenstad the people are called
Kruiken Zeikers the dutch word zeiker is a not so nice word for a person that urinates. But when it is carnival you can use that word.

Above you see the statue of the Kruiken zeiker in front of the church and the second picture is a close up of the statue.
That Statue is on that place every year with carnival and Tuesday evening at twelve o'clock the statue comes down.
So that is what is going on in my city on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in the first weekend of march.
I will wear that scarf and the little wuppies that are laying with the scarf.
So now I am living downtown, maybe I will go out to see something of the big procession on Sunday
When it is to cold I can go home.
In our building we have also carnival and a lot of music. Small groups come and play the special carnival music
I hope it will be fun.

I just heard something

Yes I heard something from Jane Eborall. We decided together that we are Palmetto girls.
That had to be said once. Thumbs up for the way they go on with their teachers.
They test tat the patterns, but it always happens in the way it had to go. When they think there is a mistake, they contact the designer and together we solve the problem
The picture that goes with the pattern is the picture that the teacher has send to them.
The end result is mailed to the teacher and when the teacher said OK the pattern is printed
I write this , because I find out that some one from the Ring members wrote to the tatters that have had a comment on my blog about the problem with my pattern.
She didn't write me. I could at least contact her by using the chat site of the Ring.
Now I know that they are talking behind my back without talking with me.................... OK stop I will be a Palmetto girl together with Jane
My bookmark was the last pattern that I gave away to the ring.
Now I start tatting a little critter. I want a shuttle from the Hintons. Did you see the pictures on Jane's site? they are aw sum.

A problem with my bookmark pattern

Here you see three bookmarks The red green white ones are the pictures of my own bookmark that was send to the Ring of Tatters for the book they want to make for their anniversary. I gave them the picture and the pattern and asked if this is what they want to have or if they want have more. Never heard anything and then the book arrived and I was sad and hurt In the book was the blue picture that is totally different from my picture and also the example from the basis was different as you can see here:

This is my example look at the picots The whole bookmark is tatted without RW.

This is in the book tatted with two shuttles and ball, mine is tatted with 3 shuttles look at the picots .

The ring of tatters published my own pattern in the last newsletter and apologizes for the mistake.
I had asked if they want to ask the lady that test tatted my bookmark would contact me in private. I asked several times No answer. Also wrote an e-mail to the yahoo site, e-mail is not published
In the book will be a paper that the real pattern is in the news letter. But that is not fair for the new members, because they have to buy an extra newsletter I could solve that problem by making a new file on their chat side.
Find out that only members of the ring can be members of the site, strange that they didn't publish my e-mail.Are the members not allowed to know that I had a problem and want to solve that problem?
I am mostly hurt by the way this is going on .

The new years card

Hi all,
I find out that parts were missing on the new years card that I showed you.
On the top of the card is:
Voor iedereen een fijn 20........
Than the picture of Nora and in the right corner under Nora is:
Nora verkleed als elfje.

The first part translated: For every body a nice 20...........
the second part translated: Nora dressed as an elf.

In Dutch is elf also 11 So the card said For every body a nice 2011 the 11 is Nora
I hope you understand what I try to tell you.
Alice and Nora have had a lot of fun making the card.
First they make the stars and than Nora was dressed in her elf dress and together they looked
at a site showed different pictures of the elf.

Nora looked at it and than she tried to do the same as in the picture as you can see in the picture above
She decided the picture that was used for the happy new year card.

Hear is the new years card that I got from Alice, my daughter in law.
I wonder if you understand what the card is telling me
Let me know what you think it tells me. I think the tatters who know dutch can tell me what the card said
Of course I wish you a very happy new year.
I am in my new house now. I thought I told you that I sold my house and that I live in a apartment now
Alice also made a card for me to mail to my family and friends to let them know my new address. I can't show you the card There is something wrong with my printer, can't print can't scan
I will do this later.
I am still unpacking all my boxes but will do it step by step.
The only thing I miss is the birds. I am living downtown and they ask you not to feed the birds because they will left dirt on the walls.
OK Going for a walk will solve that problem.

Learning kids to tat and the result

This is What I wanted to show all the tatters. The grandson of Pam wanted to learn to tat. So Pam started with him almost a year ago. He wanted to tat something to enter in the Fair. He had made this brown piece. The chains are reversed double stitches. He arrange it as a tree and wanted to tat fire flies. That didn't work. He still wanted to enter the fair. Well there was only one day, so we gave him some ideas You can put leaves on the branches, so we start searching. The nicest thing of Pam is: she has all kind of boxes all over the house, she saves everything result Kyle decided to use the copper metal leaves. OK you have to sew them on the branches. That was a problem He had to do it all by him self, we were not allowed to help. Can you imagine how difficult it was for Pam and me, not to help? He never used a needle, but he managed it, Where will we put the tree, well you can make a nice card with pastel in the background. Something like a drawing with a horizon. It was difficult to ex-plane, but he did it The sun was just down, the sky was still a little bit red.
He needed something more in the sky, I draw a very simple bird and Pam tatted the bird and than Kyle tatted the bird. The drawing was made on the card, so he could glue everything on the card.
The picture is the result. What do you say about this artwork?
I think this is the way to help youngsters to start tatting. Don't throw away the first pieces, save them and try to do something with it. I hope that a lot of tatters will follow this method.

The Tat days and preparing for it

I am almost ready, but it is giving me a lot of problems.I was working on the night owl class last Sunday. and it was one of those days. everything went wrong. I was in the kitchen, putting my shopping away took a bag of flower, at least i thought I took it, no it was on the floor in a split second and of course the sac broke . Do you see it?
Than I started tatting this little one in the picture, it is Miss Tatbead a pattern of Jane Eborall. You can find her pattern and of her Family here:

I took my shuttles search for thread, shuttles gone, searching, searching, at least found them back, hooked on my cloth.
So I could start. looked for beads, you know those small seed beads and woops the whole box on the floor.
and so it went on and on I think there is a little naughty ghost in my house
But the lady is ready and I will start packing my suitcases. I fly to the States Wednesday next week.

Another daisy picot butterfly

Here is a new one I am very happy with this pattern. With the SLT you can change and change I wonder what the tatters at the tat days will say about it.

My other classes are the logo of the tat days. A design of Jane Eborall and she allowed me to use it. The same is with the third class it is a robin also a design of Jane

Here is the picture of the robin in a metal ring, but there is also a pattern from the robin only. Hope to see a lot of you in the states. It is worth it to go there

In the middle of the night can't sleep, so show you my tatting

I tatted this butterfly in 2007. I didn't write down the pattern. I also didn't like the body.
At the Tat Days tatters asked me do you have a pattern and I had to say no.
So this year I will present the butterfly in one of my classes.

I think that it is not to difficult and that tatters who know the basics of tatting can do it.

Here you see the same butterfly but the colors in the lower wings are different. You will understand in the class that it is only a SLT

Here total different colors. But again did I use SLT.
When you have a good look you will find a mistake in the colors.

This butterfly is almost the same as the first one only the body is longer

Here you see a piece of art that Nora made for me. It is a big envelope and inside the envelope was another piece of art with three tickets for the circus

I was invited to go for my birthday to Amersfoort, the city Nora and her parents live.

Well I was very busy with my patterns for the palmetto tat days and tatting giraffes I did two

I also made a new egg for easter. This time the egg was bigger than the first one I showed you. I put some butterflies in it. The butterflies are tatted with King Tut Thread. I think I have to make some more, but first I go out to buy some special eggs I remember from some years ago that there were fresh eggs that had a very soft green color. They were not colored no that is how they are found in the hen house I hope I can still find them,if so I will show you

The hands are my hands. I had contact with the wive of a journalist who lives in Veldhoven a small village in the neighborhood of Eindhoven Caroline, her name, wanted to learn tatting as fast as I could help her
I brought her in contact with Winny, who lives in Eindhoven. She is learning very fast. After 3 weeks she made earrings for herself
Her Husband heard the whole week from the morning till the evening her talking about tatting. He wanted to know more about it so he invited Millie Ben an d me to talk about tatting
It was a great evening and now the people in the neighborhood of Eindhoven could read about tatting and who knows, maybe there will come some new members you never know.

I have had a nice day, the sun was shining and I had to tat something that can be put in an easter branch.
I took an egg made a small hole in it, blow out the egg and than after cleaning start to think about what to tat, well with the help of tatting collage from Lindsay Rogers I came up with this. One side has a kind of picture and the other side has small flowers.
There is a ribbon of split rings around the egg and that is tatted with Oran Bayan metallic thread.
It feels good, spring is coming. But I can't yell hard, because this morning there was a little bit snow and they expect some snow this night.

Something special

Look what came in last Friday. A new shuttle, not just a shuttle, no a very special one.
I have used it and it works great.
It is handmade by the husband of Jane Eborall's sister
The feeling of that wooden shuttle in your hand is great and what is so nice, there is an extra plug in the bag.
I think they were thinking at tatters like me, you know those persons that always have such a chaos in their house They loose every thing. When there is an extra one You don't have to search can go on with tatting and will find the lost one after some time.
Tatters It is really a nice shuttle and they are there in different kinds of wood Go to Jane's blog and you will see the different kind of woods
What is so nice, is that it doesn't make any noise. The AERO's make a little bit noise when you want to have more thread. It happens to me that I was sitting in the train and tatting a man looked at me and has a very angry face. I just smiled at him really friendly and went on tatting. Later on find out he was calling some one with his mobile and talking very hard. It was not allowed to use your mobile in that apartment.
So now (I want at least to have one more) I can tat and no one can look angry at me.
I think you all need a POP-A-BOBBIN TATTING SHUTTLE.

A little ladybird came in this evening

This is a candle light I gave to someone special in the nabourhood of Columbia SC. Another candlelight almost the same went in my Secret Santa Parcel.

And than there was a verry special candlelight made by my granddaughter.

She made it special for me and ofcourse also for her other grandmother. In the picture she is looking at what she made herself

A Surprise in the frontyard

This morning I saw something special in my frontyard. It is not a nice frontyard. All that will grow is allowed to grow. But this morning I saw some nice toadstool. One that you as a child always saw as the house of a gnoom. One about what we have a nice song, that we learned in kindergarten. I made some pictures and looked for the gnooms, but didn't see them.

Most Innovative Tatted Desing
Judges's Choice.
There were 34 different pieces. That is more than last year.

Praying backwards didn't help so I left it as it is now.
When does it stop that fighting with my pc I want to be the boss but most of the time the PC is acting like he/she is the boss.

The Fair

The big day The Palmetto's are the whole day at the Fair in Columbia SC. We had to prepare the place they gave us for one day. We started at about 8.00 o'clock and at 9 the first visitors came in. We had a lot of things to show and the visitors know about the little tatted gift's we had. The spiders that was it, but butterflies went the most. Something special happend
All at ones there was a little girl. Her mother put her on the table and said " The lady of the sewing stand told me to show you this". It was really wonderful a dress with tatting all over the dress and a petticoat also with tatting. The lady told us she bought a big box with all kind of things, just for a few dollars In that box was another small box and in there was the little dress. She found some one who helped her with cleaning and repair some small things and here it is. Isn't this great?

That was not the only thing what happened. You know that at the fair we try to teach the visitors to tat. There was a little girl about 5 years old and she wanted to learn tatting. Her mother said you can't do that, but the girl stayed and was patient waiting for her turn.

Pam has her special way with this kind of little girls. They can't hold the thread on their hand but you can lay the thread flat on the table and then they can do the stitches flipped and unflipped. The little girl tatted herself a necklace

It was a great day. We were tired but tired in a special way. I hope to go again next year.

I didn't have time to put something on my blog earlier.
Pam and I are very busy with working on things for the state fair and we still didn't clean the windows (some poeple will know what I am talking about)

It is a tatybird from Martha Ess and also her paprica dragon. The little baby dragon , his name is Ringtrim and the designer is Anne Bruvold The other three small animals sitting there I don't know Who designed them. The spider is designed by Donna from the Palmetto Tatters

Here it is a new book. Ineke shows her book to day in Horstmar in Germany. I am so glad that I can show the new book

In April she showed it to me for the first time.

Searching like a doggy in my box with started but not ended projects, I found this project I had to tat still one point I did it, but it was a lot of trouble The wrong ball of thread was in the bag, so I had to think how to go on , because 1 thread was verry short and there were a lot of beads on that thread. The other thread was longer, so I had to take of the beads and ............................ofcourse a lot fall of on the floor , couldn't find them all back, so had to search for the beads in my bead box, but in which one

There were several boxxes amd ofcourse it was in the last box, that I found the beads.

The pattern, yes I had it in one of my guild magazines, but I found out that in that time, we did it in a different way. I find out that I learned a lot in the last years.

I think that now I would have translated the pattern in a different way. So I think I have to rewright it

OK my project is ready, but the lesson here is.

Finish your projects, don't let them lay for years!!!!!!!!!

I am tatting and tatting and most of the time can't show it because the tatting is for the guild magazine. But this picture I will show you. I think it is so cute They tell you spring is in the air.
they are dancing and I am looking out for the spring. I have had anough snow and cold and all those winter things. I know you love them when you are young and my heart is still young , but not my body.

Jon http://tatsaway.blogspot.com/ designed this heart and chalenged us to tat it and send her a picture. I tatted it with 2 different colours, followed the pattern and used the SLT to take care that 1 heart became pink and the other green

I didn't bloc the hearts because it is not what I wanted it to be.

A new Book

At least some tatting I can show.

I am verry busy with the patterns for our tatting guild, but can't show the things. It had to be a surprise for the members

But this week I got a new book from the Shuttle Brothers. A book about the SCMR.

I tried a project and played with it you see that on the left and on the right you see a pattern that used the project from the first picture.

The project described in the book is just one leg, I played and made 6.

It is a great book with lots of things that helps you to play with the techniques.

This are snowflakes from Jon Yusoff. I used thread from Oren Bayan, a kind of metallic thread

I also tatted this hedgehog with that thread The pattern is from Be-Stitched a free pattern.

I tatted it when I was in Lexington with Pam At that time I made a picture and mailed it to the designer and than the little thing dissapeared. Pam found it back underneath the bed, at that moment I was already gone.

In the plaine back home I tatted a new one and that one you see here.

Here you see the the booth labels that are on the spool with the metalic thread. I don't know where I bought it.

This is also something I want to show you. I found that tree in the dutch mall in Columbia SC.

When I saw it I wanted to have it. It just was $ 3,00 because it lost almost all its ovals. I knew what to do with it, Jerry, Pams husband helpt me making ovals of the pictures and I tatted the

edging with the technique of Jane Eborall's sequins. Just like my mobiles at the Palmetto tat days. This time ovals

And here you see my last project. I made some of these for christmas exchanges.

I used an edging that was on class in line and the snowflakes are from Jon Yusoff

I tatted it with DMC cordonette 100

The sacs are filled with lavender.

Little black Peter Nora

This is little black Peter Nora. In our country we have a special day. Sint Nicolaas has his birthday on the 6 of dec. He is ages old and he comes every year to the Netherlands with a steamer filled with presents and ofcourse his black Peters. They help to bring the parcels all over the country, the evening of the 5th of dec. So now you know what was going on. There was a big sac with presents and lttle black Peter Nora was taking the presents out the sac and gave them to the person who's name was on the present.
Here is a story in pictures with one of the presents

We had a realy nice evening and in my packadge was the same picture of Nora, not that big, a small one that is what I like.
Sint knows that. The picture is taken some weeks ago on the beach and she is pointing at a plain that fly over.

I am not lazy if you meaby thought that. I just was busy , verry busy with our tatting guild. There was no time for writing on my blog. While I was thinking what we had to do I tatted several little things like this one.

When I was at the Palmetto tatters in SC I stayed all the six weeks with Pam and we have had a lot of fun. One day a packadge arived with a lot of big snakes, a kind of rattlesnakes. We realy liked them and we thought it will be a nice thing to gave away on the fair to the boys instead of a butterfly, but the snakes we got were to big to gave away, so we started to try to make a smaller one and here it is. Do you like it? It don't take much time and you can empty your shuttles with it , but take care you have to fingertat one side of the little one or put some thread on another dhuttle. You start at the tale. Just gave it a try. I also have a picture from my palmetto shirt. I want to put more things on it. here is the start

I am thinking about more things that swims in water, as the big seahorse of Jane and her dolphin and meaby on a small island the mermaid of Martha. But that has to wait, the guild still needs a lot of my time

a forgotten book on the attic

I was searching for knitting and crochet books on the attic and found an old book of Burda:

I found tatting inside as you can see in the pictures. The different small projects are wonderfull, I think to use to make bigger projects. I think about table clothes, but also for a waistcoat.

I special was thinking about this, because I ordered a verry nice thread from yarnplayer.

Yesterday I showed you the pictures of my tatted heart in the angel and the heart patterns.
These patterns are from Jane and I may use them at the tat days in Columbia SC
Jane chalanged us to do something with sequins. Well I used a circle of mother of pearls. This is also a workshop for the Palmetto's. But you can't buy those circles all over the world, so I cut a circle out cardboard, same size. On that circle I glued pictures on booth sides. Here is the result.
When you make more circles you can put them together and make a mobile

Working for the Palmetto Tatdays

I couldn't show this earlier, this are 2 patterns for my workshop at the TAT days.

The designs are from Jane Eborall, she was so kind to let me use them Her design in booth, heart and angel, is with e real heartbead. I tatted a dimple heart to use in stead of the bead. So when tatters don't have a heart bead they can do it in this way.

As you all know after tatdays you can buy a CD with all the patterns.

Saterday, 31 may 2008 Ineke's new book

She did it again. Who you will say, well Ineke Kuiperij.

She started in 2001 with her first book, the Nativity set.

And she showed it in Horstmar.

After the first one, every year, she came with a new ook .

So she did this year, this is a totaly tatted carousel.

It is so beautifull.

The pictures in the book are black and white, I show some.
Here is 1 of the 4 horses, 2 white ones and 2 black horses .

But there is more a realy nice swan to sit in and a kind of fantasy bench and another kind of bench, but the picture didn't came out that nice

She used as a frame to hang on everything, the metal frame of a dartboard. There are just as in a real carousel, those coloured hangings above and there are mirrors and so on and so on

All the patterns for this carousel are in a book the name of the book is Nostalgie.

I am realy proud of this dutch designer

At least I found a way to put the flowers in clear glas.

The flowers are made with a pattern of Ineke Kuiperij from her book Allerhande 1.

The thread is aurifil # 50/2, a bobbinlace thread, thinner than DMC 100

the leaves are made with a pattern from Tonie Storer's book Tatting Down The Garden Path

At least it worked
I bought some glas name tage holders for on a dinertable, instead of real flowers I tatted a flowerand want to put that in the holder, my my what a struggle.
Nithing worked. Now you see it and in the glas is some sand, not that nice, but I think I will buy something what you use for kandles. It is clear and you have it in some colours.
I think I will use green .
It will be much nicer when you can look through the glass I think

I still am busy with all kinds of things that had to be done.

Here is a little thing that had to be on a zipper.

It is a pattern of Jane Eborall

They are really funny and verry fast done, but there is always the problem, to find an empty shuttle and to find the beads and the thing to hang on.

Here is an angel, my own design, I used the skirt of the Sun Bonnet Sue motif in the Big Book of Tatting, to create this angel,

The pattern is to find on the class on line.

There are two different angels, the flower is from Helma Siepmann.

This one was ordered and I am happy it is ready, so I can bring it away

Have to do still two flowers and have to do something with a little box for our Guild meeting and that is in 2 weeks. I always run out of time.

So let us go on.

Here is the result of the TIAS of Jane Eborall. It was realy fun and I hope that there will be more of this kind of things. At this moment the hippo's are flying in from all over the world to Jane.

I promissed you that I should let you see some children that came on 6 januari at my front door to sing a song They are dressed up as kings and carry with them a bag or basket for the sweets they suppose to get.

In the first picture you see three kings there were four

(that are children, sometimes there is only 1 king and he sings three kings three kings gave me a new hat)

the little king was shy and hide herself , but I got her the second time.

There she is still shy and the the little boy looks like asking "what is going on here" Children always surprise you.They also have with them Chinese Lanterns

When you go down town you see a lot of those children, but also adults and they sing wonderfull . Most off the time it is a choir and they sing for monney. They have special projects, they sing for and it happened that the kings are sitting on real camels. I was not down town this year, was to busy making my special dutch blog for TIAS

my christmas things

I don't have a tree, I have a stable with a bunch of angels, there are much more, but I only took out some. It is in my room from 24 of dec till the sunday after the special day 6 januari the day we remember the three kings visit the new born king .

In our city children go in the streets with burning Chinese lanterns and clothed like the kings. they come to your dore and you gave them some sweets.

When they come next sunday I will take pictures and show you.

We had our christmas exchange over here and tatted an angel in a ball for one of the members, it is not so clear but I hope you see the angle and the leafs with berries .

I start with my TAT masters hope to do more than last year, because I didn't do anything.

Hello here I am at least. Lots of things happened I can't tell that all, I had a verry nice time in Lexington meaby I will tell you something in the comming time, now I will just wish you all a happy new year and for the tatters who were at the Palmetto tatdays, do you see one off the sockmonkeys?

I packed them all and put them under the christmas tree at my sons place, one for Nora who just unpacked it with her daddy and the other three went to her three nieces.

We told the girls where the monkeys came from Santa got them in the States.

They all love the monkeys.

The other picture is a candle holder and in the holder is the xmastree from free pattern of dec, woops forget the name, but I think you know who it is.

Erin and Sherry there are more pictures of the monkeys I will mail them to you as soon as I have them, the one here I took my self.

At least some tatting on my blog. I am preparing patterns for the palmetto tatdays. I didn't write down what I was tatting the blue one, so I had to do it again. This time I wanted frontside backside, so there is some difference betwween the 2 stars. I put on the blog the front side on yhe top and the backside is comming

Hallo Allemaal Hi Every body

Ik heb een aantal weken gewacht met de foto's van het geboorte kaartje van Nora

I waited several weeks before I show you the card from my grand daughter Nora.

Een aantal mensen woonde zo ver weg , dat het even duurde voor het kaartje aankwam.

Some poeple live so far away that it took alot of days before the card arived.

Het zou niet leuk zijn als ze de foto's zouden zien voordat ze het kaartje hadden ontvangen

It wasn't nice to see the pictures before they had the card.

Booth the parents are living on a big pink cloud.

Nora is a cute little one, who allows her parents to sleep wel and she only cries when something is wrong, hungry or she wants a new nappy or she lost her dummy.

The nurses in the Hospital said, the newborn princes Ariane (daughter of Prins Willem Alexander and Princes Maxima born on the same day) was handsom, but they said Nora is much more handsom.

I think they were right.

Here she is , my little grand daughter. She is born on Tuesday 10 april early in the morning at 5.48 hours.

At seven o'çlock the phone waked me and as I picked it up I knew the baby is there, I heard her crying. Everything was all right and both the parents were verry verry happy.

We are still waiting for the baby. We (Alice my DIL and Edwin my sun and I) wait and wait.

Alice was 40 weeks pregnant on 26 of march so the little one can come everyday now.

No ladies, I don't know if it is a boy or a girl, I am an old fashion woman who want to be surprised.

Edwin and Alice know it.

Alice is knitting , She already knitted a blanket and now she knitted from the rest of the thread little animals. Two mice and a cat as you can see in the pictures.

The cat and the mice are in the playpen what already is in their living room

Everything is ready, so the little one can come.

There is no tatting, I am to restles to tat.

stolen bookmark tatted second time

One off my first daisy picot designs was a bookmark.
It was on my blog somewhere in august or september.
Than there were thiefs in my house and the little box with the bookmark was gone.
This week I tatted it again and here is the result
I used 4 shuttles, two different threads. each color was on 2 shuttles CTM.
I started with adaisy picot split ring and than 2 chains. 2 daisy picot rings, 2 chains and so on the tail is pearltatting on the 2 threads in 1 color, so the tail is a little bit thicker

mardi grass

On severall list they were talking about mardi grass, first didn't know what it was. Later on I understood and I find out it is something like carnaval.

Well here is my yongest sun in his carnaval outfit, I took the picture just before he went to the party.

The party goes on until tuesday midnight. Most of the time they are in the streets downtown. Sunday there will be a parade

It is valentjne day, here are my recently designed hearts with daisy picots

There are two patterns or I should say three

The two bigones is a pattern and I also used that pattern as a bookmark, you have to change the pattern a little bit .

The other three hearts is just the same pattern , only done in different sizes of thread

The big ones is Oren Bayan #50 the little one is DMC # 80

I think this will be a nice earring, meaby the others are to big there is picture of one of them with a quarter dollar next to it

The patterns of these hearts are send to Ruth for the calander, so wait and see

I designed just like Jon, my heart has two daisy picot flowers The heart bookmark was made first, that went verry well , the second is made with new thread and that didn't work that well, so it doesn't look as nice as the blue and white one.

It is an edging for Ruth for her calander. So the pattern will be on the calander

It has daisy picots and pearltatting. It is an edging, whith it. look at the picture of the corner , just lay it in that way, or make a square motif, or a snowflake, or, or fill in.

I am tatting tatting tatting for christmas, here you see a snowflake own design on the left and the one on the right is Ben Fikkerts snowflake. I have used a kind of metalic thread.

I did it just in time. I tatted the flowers for this candle holder. It is special made for my son who died last year. I created a special corner for him in my living room and bought this candle holder. I promissed myself that the flowers would be there before the 25th of november.
This afternoon I made the last one it is realy nice I think.
Now you also understand what I was doing the last weeks. The projects for the challenge have to wait.

Didn't do a lot for the challenge, had to do other things, but that didn't work well either.

Yesterday and today at least, something is been tatted.Two snowflakes, my own design a long time ago, a verry early design. It are two of five different snowflakes, all with the SCMR. In de middle is a little shining star, but I also made a center when there is no star.

These are tatted with DMC metallic thread. I think I bought it at the Palmetto's last year , but am not sure off that. I thought what I bought wasn't DMC but it looks the same as a little xmas star with a celtic knot picot I desighned last year and that star I tatted in Lexington with the new thread. I see that the pictures are different, the background paper is the same in booth pictures, so don't know what I did.

Meaby some one can solve the problem I bought it as I said in the vender room at the palmetto's Did some one else do that? Please if so help me out.

Not a new motif, but the homework from the class on line,

In dutch we call it a Distel, I like that flower, but most of the poeple don't like it. I have to say that I am a little bit strange in behaving when it comes to gardens.

In my garden everything is allowed to grow, just take care that I have some room to walk and sit. My nabours don't agree with me, but as long as it is in my garden I am the boss isn't it.

This flower is a design for the class on line from Rita Cochrane , I met her at the Palmetto's in 2005.

She is a nice lady, verry busy and she has lots of tattingsuplies.

I am realy catched by the daisy picot I like this snowstar and I realy wonder that you can do this with that technic.
This snowstar is just 1 ring with 6 picots and beads on booth threads.

Something else, I tried to gave a message to Jon but it didn't work. Jon I realy like your daisy picot design and I am glad that you used my explanation It is always difficult to write down something in english it is not my first language. I hope to see more of you, Jon, in the daisy picot technic,

The snowstar is ready, but I think I must tat more ds on the inside ring so that the beads are better seen, at the other hand the ring will become verry big and than closing wil gave a problem, special with thinner thread.

I started with the thread the same as the earring and there the beads cut the thread.

This thread is Madeira # 20 and the beads are czechoslovakian beads 10/0 seed.

So I must practize a lot to come to a good design

I tried this time the picots with beads I tatted a kind of an earring.

I don't wear them but I think there are a lot of tatters who like them, I mean earrings, don't know if they like this one and I have to retat it because It didn't end the way I like it , so wait and see

I use for this one Oren Bayan thread #70 and beads are glass seed beads size 14

This evening I will try a snowflake un this thread and with this beads.

Somewhere in an e-mail off Jane Eborall she said: an edging without a corner is not an edging, or something like that and I think she is right So I took my designed edging with daisy picots, the second one, the first one was stolen and this evening I created an edging.
You can do it in different ways but this one I like.
So this is not a new motif, but just the finishing tuch off one of the first motifs.
must go on with a new motif.

Class on line has started again and to day we are busy with the little cat from Martha Ess.
Isn't he cute I realy like him, yes it is a he, almost all the red cats are male, at least that is what they say overhere, His name is Roesje a name of a realy nice cat we had at home when I still lived with my parents.

Hi all .
here is the bookmark again and now booth colors are the same number and it is Oran Bayan
# 50, I like the first one more (the dark purple) I think the threads are much thinner.
The problem is, I can't find the purple anymore It is not an Oran Bayan or an Altin Basak I think it is a # 40, bought in the states last year, but can't find the ball and the white is a thinner, meaby a 50 or 60. OK learned that you must look at your shuttles verry carefully before you start tatting. I hope you will let me know what you think about this. Till next time

At least after a verry busy week preparing and going to the guild meeting, I found some time to tat.
I made my new motif again in the daisy picot technic and this time it worked all at once and I didn't have to retat.
I like the bookmark. Find out at the end that the white thread is thinner as the purple.
I think the white is cordonet #40 and the purple is Oram Bayan #50

Worked on our guild magazine

This week I was busy with our guild magazine and had to tat for that magazine It is a cross from the book of Julie Patterson, More crosses than you can Bear:

Eye Spy Flowers I used DMC cordonnet special # 100.

The books of Julie are wonderfull.

So now there will be time for more new projects.

and looking out for new things for our guild magazine.

This butterfly is tatted with three shuttles, at least the wings I think the body is a little bit thin.
It is my own design.
I like the wings, but have to find out a better way to go from one wing to the other and from one side to the other.
My problem is: I hate cut and tie I always look for a way to tat all in one This one is done that way, but as I said I have to find a better way .
Meaby someone has some suggestions

Still problems, can't get monney, my pinpas is stolen, ask for new, they are at the postoffice, can go and get them, but need my passport.

Hi All,

Didn't let you know much this week.

It was awfull. Monday I got the news that my cousin of 47 years old died in the same way as my eldest son last november, cardiac arrest. that hurts and it made me anxious about the two sons I still have.

This was not anough in the night from tuesday to wednesday they break in to my house.

i didn't hear annything and when I came down on wednesday morning the room and kitchen downstairs was a totaly mess, they opened every drawer and cubbord and took a lot of things and smashed all kind off things on the floor. The projects I did for the chalange are gone, but what was realy worse, the shuttles on the projects were 4 hinton shuttles and special ones. and much more was stolen.

OK there is also good news I started a new edging when I came back from the funerall from my cousin yesterday and when I came home my yongest son Edwin mailed me the first pictures from the baby that he and Alice his girlfriend are expecting in march 2007. Yes you read it well I will get my first grandchild how is that? So I end the week positif and go on with my tatting.

There is a picture from a square in the daisy technic, I will combinate this with Hardanger for a workshop. It is in my head , have to write it down. This square is made of a triangle pattern from the Shuttle brothers.
